Despite all that…

Boys will be boys or is this unisex?

1. Despite putting him to play in the center of the hall, he still crawls to the corner and tries picking up a dead cockroach to eat.

2. Despite having all his toys spread out on the floor, he crawls his way into a small gap between the tables and gets stuck there.

3. Despite blocking all possible ways of getting to that solitary plant in the living room, he still manages to find a way to get his hand into that soil.

4. Despite putting protective covers on table edges, he manages to go under the table and still bang his head on the table top.

5. Despite attaching a side stand to the bed so that he does not fall off, he uses it to stand up and make us look like fools.

6. Despite securing him in his pram, he manages to turn over and crawl out from an opening in the back of the pram.

7. Despite our best efforts to keep his thumb away from his mouth, he still manages to get his fingers, hands, even the thumbs of his feet into his mouth.

Despite all that and much more, he still does not flinch when he gets hurt, smiles back every single time you smile at him, smiles glowingly when his mom sings ‘chanda hai tu, mera sooraj hai tu’ to him as if he understood each word, says his ‘mummas’ and ‘babas’ in the cutest possible way and with the innocent of innocent expressions, ,  farts and burps away to glory, eats as if he’s never gonna be fed ever again and sleeps like there is no tomorrow.

Despite all the times we woke up in the middle of the night to change his nappy or have strolled around the room for god knows how long to put him back to sleep or made funny noises and felt like a baby ourselves just to amuse the little one, or held him closely just to make him feel secure and loved or the time when a kid missed his direction and threw a basketball on my baby and I got my hand in front just in time, or the time when I was trying to sit on a stool with him in my arms and the stool broke, he toppled off my hands but I dived and managed to grab him safely but hurting my back badly or the time when he has indigestion and his stomach hurts, we stay up all night to make him comfortable and much more…

Despite all that life has thrown our way, parenthood is by far the best thing that has happened to us. And we wouldn’t trade it for anything else in life.

And Ramadan Mubarak to one and all 🙂

p.s. Posts, comments and replies will be slow for a month due to fasting and lesser working hours.

    1. Thanks S. Yes, he’s growing up so fast. I think its a couple of months tops before he starts walking now…

Our maid said it perfectly a few months back…

“Now Ibrahim small, mummy OK. When Ibrahim big, baby running, mummy running, baby running, mummy running!”

  1. Ramadan Mubarak to you and lovely family! 🙂

He Is growing up fast, isn’t it?!! 😀

Yea, its unisex! Mom says we did all that too and more to drive her crazy! 😉

ma says if I have a kid like me, her prayers would be answered!! 😛
          LOL!!

          1. mine says the same! though she prayed the same for my sister, and they turned out like their mom, only the granny has to take care of them now. First my sis, now her kids. Poor mom!

  2. Damn i cant believe i am missing out on all these wonderful milestones yaar…

      About FAT…well…err…look whose talking! 😉

      Thanks babes 🙂

  3. So sweet and a proud father talking. Me liking.

All the sacrifices we do, difficulties we face, sleeps we dont get – are just nothing in front of one cute smile from your kid or when they call you smilingly , isnt it ???

It just melts my heart, when I see my daughters smile at me and ask me something. I just cant say no to them.

I am very happy you are posting all this tidbits of your experiences with your son, which I feel bad at not doing.

God bless your family and Ramzan wishes to you all !!!

    1. 🙂 Thanks…

Exactly. Just one smile it takes and we’d be ready to do everything a 100 times over!!!

Yeah, a blog is an excellent forum to share and record such milestones. Some day, we may come back and read, maybe even my son might get to read all this. Imagine how priceless it could be then.

      Thanks again 🙂

  4. arreeeeeee masooood!!!!

    {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

and special cuddle hugs for ibbu!!!!!

    1. 🙂 Thanks a lot Crafty…

haha…you bet. Ibrahim is just like that. Impossible to keep him still any more. But the thing is, the pram is at a height so if he crawls out from the back, he might fall. So we have to be so vigilant.

Wow…magical moment na..holding a baby. Have you own and you’ll start believing in miracles!!!

LOL. Does that mean I have to be doubly vigilant if you hold Ibrahim? 😉

  5. Awww…cute! That is Ibbu’s proud baba.*touchwood to Ibbu*

Those things listed are not gender specific. My daughter was always curious of the indoor plants. Once she even hid under the couch and I became frantic. These kids I tell you! they are trouble but the cutest kinds.

I totally agree with you that being a parent is the best thing. I always say that the best thing about my life is being a mother. I LOVE being a mother and I loved carrying my little bundle of joy. Okay okay..it is not about me. 😀

Ramadan Kareem to you and your family!

BTW Masood, I tweeted Ramadan Mubarak to you on Friday.

    1. 🙂 Absolutely!!!

Well good to know they are not gender specific. I thought I’ll need to make another baby and this time a girl…to find out 😉

I’ve not tweeted for a while now. Somehow just about have enough time to keep this blog alive. If I end up spending time on twitter as well, I will loose my job!!! 😀

  6. As crafty said this is most beautiful post….i read it twice….every single line shows how much u luv baby..

Angel also put her all fingers in mouth…till now she doesnt know diff b/n finger and thumb…and sometime also put any cloth which comes under her reach 🙂

    God bless Ibu !!

Happy Ramjaan to you and your family !!

  7. Hi Masood,

Came over to your blog for the first time, and this post is really touching. Good to see such tender father’s love.

    keep connecting
and Ramadan Mubarak to you too.

    Rekha

  8. Ramadhan Kareem to masood, mrs.masood and little ibu.

Sweet post masood,a big kala tika to the little ibbu.

This is all nothing dear, wait till he starts walking,u have to remove all the chairs from the living room,if not he will climb on the tables and will try to jump from there. Those are the lovely moments and scary also.

My daughter used to remove the telephone from the stand used to try to stand on that, that stand was very light and it can’t bear the weight of the baby.My kid is now 2 plus still she puts what ever she gets in her mouth,i read somewhere they try to know the shape of the thing they have in there hand by keeping that in their mouth. 🙂

    1. Thanks Saritha. Yes, a big nazar ka tika of the kiddo.

Yes, I know. Everyone has been warning me about the time he starts walking. His crawling itself is keeping us on our feet. God knows what all he’ll do then….

Haha…she tried to stand on that? They are so inquisitive na. Want to know everything.

And about the shape of objects, yes I think that’s possible 🙂

Someone told me that they make sounds while they are being fed because they call out for the milk!! 🙂

  9. such an adorable post 🙂
Ibrahim is just so adorable and so are his parents 🙂 😀

You make me want to get married and have kids 🙂

    Ramadan mubarak… 🙂 🙂

        1. glad you mentioned this 🙂 finding a good guy is an ordeal..all good ones are either taken/married or too old 😦 nevermind….i’ll wait for the ‘right’ time 🙂

    1. Thanks Dew. And same to you..

Yes..doing all that and much more. These are all that I could put words too. Some of the things that he does cannot be even described with words…!!! 🙂

  10. before I read the comments, let me just HUG you for this wonderful wonderful post,Masood.I was smiling through the post.yet had a lump while I read your thoughts about parenthood.Yes,parenthood is the best thing that has happened to me & R too. and all the experiences that you’ve gone through and are going through are what we have and are.

Ibbubaby is a darling.and let me tell you all that he does is not confined to just boys.Namnam too has made us look like fools with her antics.I still have a snap where she had crawled to the centre of our dining table, just sat there smiling with all the chairs surrounding her,and happily posing for the camera.

Lots of love and hugs to Ibbubaby 🙂

Ramadan Kareem to you too 🙂
May God bess and your family 🙂

    1. Thanks Deeps. It is such a wonderful feeling and pretty scary too. Almost too good to be true types.

haha..wow..you’ll have to put up that pic of namnam on your blog!!!! 🙂

And good to know all kids are like that. Quite a few people told me that the boys are more active and thus are always upto some antics while most girls are not as active and less mischievous. I honestly don’t know.

  11. That was such a sweet sweet post!!! Brought tears to my eyes! Will come back to comment in detail.

Ramadan Mubarak to you and your family. Will come back to comment properly 🙂

  12. Oh it is totally unisex! They find ways of exasperating us while at the same time making us want to pick them up and cuddle them until there is no tomorrow – I still do that 🙂

‘Despite putting protective covers on table edges, he manages to go under the table and still bang his head on the table top.’ – Oh the number of times she did that! I mean, they find places to get hurt! and after that – we feel the hurt more than them 🙂

‘Despite securing him in his pram, he manages to turn over and crawl out from an opening in the back of the pram’ – Oh dear 🙂 Ibrahim is the cutest!!!!

Parenthood is the bestest thing that has happened to us too! It surpasses everything! It brings out so many emotions and capabilities that we didn’t even know existed in us!

Hugs and muahs to Baby Ibrahim! He is the cutest!!!! Give him a huge tight hug esp from me – ok?

    1. Haha…oh yes..and come to think of it, these kids are just a few months old and yet they end up doing such stuff..that totally blow our minds away!!!

yes, its terrible when they are in pain. Its happened a few times with Ibrahim but he still does not know he has to cry when he gets those little nudges and bumps. The day he realizes that even a teeny weeny bit of pain means to start crying at the top of his lungs…we’ll be in for a new parade!!

Yeah. It is the greatest feeling by far 🙂

Done! I super tight hug to Ibahim from your side 🙂

  13. Ha! I’m so glad he’s outsmarting you two smart-alecks each time. That’s my boy. Of course, except the times he gets hurt, like banging his head on the table (I winced when I read that).

I’m so proud of the little popkin! Give him loads of hugs and cuddles and a big wet smooch from me!

Happy Ramadan to you, the proud mom (dunno her name, you never told us!) and my cutie pie. Wish you the bounty and beauty of this holy month!

PS: Mummy tells me when I was a year and a half, I held two dead cockroaches, one in each fist, and slept all night like that. Mummy was horrified when she saw my hands in the morning. And today, I can’t see a cockroach without waking the dead in their graves with my scream!

PPS: I used to eat rubber chappals, and Mummy says it reminded her of one of the dogs she had at her parental home when she was young. 😀

    1. Yeah, you keep feeling glad and we’ll keep having a field day!!!

hehe…well guess he’ll be the one wincing then after i give that smooch!!! 😉

LOL. Man, that’s the weirdest baby story I’ve ever heard. Sleeping with cockroaches in each hands…hahahaha….unbelievable!!!! This I got to tell to a lot of people….. 😀

Oh that reminds me..Ibrahim also looovs eating those chappals. We cannot leave them open for a minute. Or else he’s all over it…

haha…you reminded her off her dog?!! LOL

  14. Definitely, it is the best thing. Agree to whatever you say 🙂 Feels like I could’ve written this post a year back. Today, things have changed, he’s turning into a terrorist day by day 😐

  15. The best post till date, awesome expressions of parenthood. I miss now being a father after reading all ur posts specially this one.

  16. Very beautiful post masood 🙂 actually I picturised whatever you have written… its cute… really cute.. kids are always amazing… say my Hi and give my lil hugs to him… 🙂
again I can say its beautiful masood 🙂

  17. Ramadan Mubarak Masood. Just getting back to blogging so really sorry if I’m wishing you late.
I have no idea about this kid thing. it’s a world I don’t understand but I guess a lot of kids do these stuff. have you figured it out yet if it’s a boy thing or unisex?
