On a shopping spree

That’s what I did this weekend. Indulged my favorite fantasy – Gadgets!!!

I was on the lookout for a good business phone/PDA for more than a year now. Read this. But didn’t find a decent one that caught my fancy. That was only until Nokia came out with the newest addition to its E-series – the E75 🙂 and I just fell in love with it. Finally bought it on Friday!!! And I just couldn’t wait to use it. The dealer dude asked me to charge it for 4 hours before start up. Those 4 hours were the longest of my life! Don’t know what it is about me and cell phones. But whatever it is, I am loving it 🙂

That’s not all. I was also on the lookout for a decent camera. With my little kiddo growing up so soon and coming up with new stuff every day, I wanted to upgrade to a better camera. Bought a Nikon Coolpix S600. This is not the latest in the market but one with good reviews. Thought to stick with something that is reliable and will give me the best shot than something fancy with all snazzy features.

And if that’s not all, a close friend knowing my passion for perfumes, bought me a Bvlgari Soir. No occasion. No reason. Just like that 🙂

All in all, a weekend well spent, literately ;). But worth every penny.

  5. thats a great indulging wkend. i dont understand about guys n their love for mobiles but camera, yes!!! it makes perfect sense to me 😀 pls do keep clicking and sharing them too..
i love browsing thru pictures, they tell a thousand stories..

    1. Like Meira above mentioned, its like how it is with shoes for women!!! 🙂

Yep, I have some amazing shots of Ibrahim. Amit gets to see them regularly….while I upload them on my laptop 😉

  6. Me too crazy about mobiles,i felt the same way when i brought my 6300 one and half years back, now its time for me to change.

Same pinch even i have nikon coolpix but it is L16

    1. yeah..I’ve been religiously following Nokia phones for the last 7-8 yrs now…and since starting work, have stuck to Nokia business phones all along 🙂

you too a Nikon? cool. This is my first Nikon camera. We earlier had a Panasonic Lumix and after than got an Olympus. Now Nikon. Any guesses which will be next? 😉

      1. Can u believe before nikon what i had?? i had kodak which i have to load a reel and after every click i have to rewind(or what ever) it,i never thought of buying a camera as nokia mobile camera is too good,i got good prints.

Now that u have nikon u have to help me how to take snaps at night,i went to alain night zoo and i took many snaps but i am not able to figure it out which animal i took cause all the snaps are dark yaar, only few which i took when there was little sunlight were good snaps.

        1. haha..yeah..those were the days…those roll n film cameras…photos came pretty good on them though…but yes, you can take only 36 pics and then wait to have them printed etc. Diigital cameras in that sense have been a blessing!

well thats always the tricky part. Taking pictures in the dark..specially in a night zoo..where they dont allow you to use flash or did they? I wont say Nikon is the best in that…but when I was choosing mine, that was an important factor. And of the ones I tested, Nikon had the brightest snaps.

Your camera will have a night mode. Always select that. Plus also ensure you turn on the flash. You might find 2 options there…one would be ‘Auto Flash’ and other just Flash. Try out both and see which gives you the best result. In my case, just Flash works fine.

      2. Hey were is my comment??

U know what camera i had before this? it was a kodak camera in which i have to load a reel and after taking each snap i have to rewind (or what ever) it and give for printing, but the snaps used to be damn good. Most of the time i used to use my 6600 nokia to take snaps they also came out very well.

Now that u have nikon u have to tell me how to take snaps at night,i have been to al ain night zoo and in most of the snaps animals are not there, snaps were too dark ,the snaps which i took when there was sunlight came very well.

  7. I can’t believe I still haven’t added you to my blogroll! Sheesh!

Anyways, coming back to the topic on hand – Congrats on the new phone and camera!
I am not too much of a phone person – if I have the calling, texting and radio facilities, I am happy. 🙂

Camera – yes, I want to buy something decent like your new one too!
Will do that in the future when the need actually arises! 😉

    1. 😦 So did you now?

hehe..yeah..but somehow even though these are advanced phones, I still only use the basic features.

Absolutely…I bought it only and only for my baby! 🙂

  8. i am very techy too and possess coolest camera on earth…

my problem…i can not keep up a cell phone for more than 12 months…accidents happen like forgetting to remove from the pants and washing them…

    i need a netbook now..

    1. hehe..lucky you 🙂

yeah..cell phones have become such an essential commodity these days that such accidents happen. I know a friend who once dropped his cell phone in the WC!!! :p

  9. So you went Gadget crazy this weekend? This is the same feeling when I buy shoes. 😆 I can buy shoes forever.

So do we get to see some new pictures? It is time to make this place a bit colorful. 🙂

You love perfumes too? Me too. Though I use different ones, I always have Dior’s J’adore for its mild fragrance. I use it mostly at workplace-meetings or sit down dinners. Other times different ones but always prefer mild ones.

Last time gifted MIL and mom Bvlgari’s Jasmin one. It is stronger than J’adore.

    1. LOL…Miera and Swaram gave the same comparison in their comments above!!!

Well, lets see. Guess its time to dazzle the blog world again 😉

Ohh Yesss!!! me totally crazy about perfumes…I am on a collection mania. And hey..same pinch on J’adore!!! I gifted it to my wife when we got married last yr….and she still has it. It was my favorite and now hers too 🙂

I have a list of perfumes and colognes that I wanna possess. Lets see when I reach the bottom of that list 😉

  10. Oh Coooool !!!! Weekend well spent or well bought ????

Anyway, awesome gadgets u got !!! Wishes to u !!!

Pl send some pics taken from ur new camera – maybe some on Ibrahim !!!!

Shopping gives you such a satisfaction, right ??? Its a great stress buster too. So, keep shopping more and more.

    1. hehe…yes..a weekend well bought 😉

      Thanks 🙂

The camera was bought for Ibrahim only so I assure you, there will be dozens!!!!! 😀

Yes, shopping is the best therapy…but a costly one! 😉

  11. When my laptop gave some trouble recently I read comments on my mobile for he first time and realised the importance of having a good, ‘business mobile’! This weekend I spent some time looking at phones that could be used for checking approving comments and for commenting 🙂 I liked some (Nokia N71 or N73?? I think…) but wasn’t sure what to look for- ….speed? And then a customer came and mentioned his Nokia mobile hangs sometimes! So I decided to google some information before buying 🙂 And then I come across this post!! 🙂

And not just photographs, even their first step, the grin changing with the number of teeth growing or falling 🙂 , the way they dance and talk become more precious with each passing year 🙂 Have a great time.. 🙂

    1. Well, if your looking for a phone so that it can double up for blogging, I think you should look for a phone in the E-series. All Nokia N-series (N71, 73, 82, 95, 97 etc etc) are phones with snazzy functionality and features largely around music and vidoes. But you need online network connectivity for blogging…and phones that best support that are the E-series ones (E51, 55, 61, 65, 66, 71, 75 and 90) 🙂

    1. When I was choosing mine, I had the E71 and E75 shortlisted. Took me an hour to go through features of both the phones before finalizing. And guess what? it was not the features that helped me choose but the look 😉

Actually before this one, I had the E51 which does not have a slider. And before that, I had the E65, which had a slider. So I thought its time to get back to a slider phone!

But idiotic logic apart, in terms of features and functionality, both the phones are awesome. My thumbs are large and the keypad for E71 was too tiny for my liking. Whereas, the keypad in E75 was broad and comfortable. Easy to type out essays!!! And definitely easy to reply to comments. Any website, blogs etc are displayed on your cell phone just like you see it on your laptop or PC. Browsing is no different. Email clients are same in both. But Nokia is promoting E75 as the email phone.

So if you have to choose between E71 and E75, choose one with which you can type conveniently. Both these phones have full Qwerty keypads so typing is so cool. E71 is a little faster and lighter but the only drawback for me was the tiny keypad.

In the end, I had to disappoint my wife and pick E75. She chose E71. But I think I made the right choice.

  12. Wow! Now that is called retail therapy 🙂 We have the new Google phone – on android platform and it is really good as a business phone. We are so dependent on it – it is scary. It is really useful, especially when we are outside and we need to look up things on the google map and stuff – apart from blogging and checking emails of course 🙂 Husband has every possible application downloaded on it 🙂

And a cool camera 🙂 Nice nice 🙂 We too upgraded a couple of months back – to a panasonic Lumix. for it’s high quality videos. I love new gadgets too 🙂

Perfumes! I love shopping for perfumes! I picked up 2 over 2 consecutive weekends 🙂 Retail therapy is the bestest!!!

    1. Wow..you guys have the google phone? How is it??? They haven’t released it in this part of the world. Me really looking forward to it 🙂 Even the iPhone took months to get here..ofcourse the ‘jail-broken’ ones were here much earlier.

Yeah, my bro works for Panasonic and the first thing he said when I bought a Nikon was “did you check out the Lumix range’. I said..”Ofcourse I did”. My shortlists included Nikon, Lumix and Olympus.

      Oh yes, absolutely loooov perfumes!

      Retail therapy rockzzz!! 😀

    1. Yeah…imagine buying an electronic gadget with all that excitement and then leave it lying there for a few hrs…right in front of you…where you can see it, touch it, feel it…but not use it!!!!!! The manufacturers are so sadistic!!! 😉

  13. Smitha rightly says retail therapy…

I am not a very tech savvy person so have to rely on close friends for help:)
Cameras are something I have always been interested in:) (not mobiles though)

and yeah lemme add my voice to the chorus and say that shoes do it for me 😀 😀

someone is having weekend indulgent fun 😀
rolling in money are you? 😀
Blame Sols for her post…now cant expect anything less than a ferarri from you in a pic 😀

    1. Oh yes. Only, in this case, this was a therapy I didn’t really need 😉 Just pure indulgence!

LOL yeah…the shoe bit is like an echo now! 😉 On second thoughts, I should have bought my wife a good pair of shoes to balance the equation a bit…hmm..

Rolling in money, I so wish. My company hasn’t paid out our commission cheques for the last 2 months now. But I hear they are gonna club it all together next month…so yeah..maybe that Ferrari is not a bad idea!!! 😉 Talk about Khayali Pulao!!

    1. hehe…having a tough, long day at work…just managing to sneak in and reply to some comments….

      definitely tomorrow!! 🙂
